CFCR’s mission is to support mental and emotional wellbeing, ultimately restoring the community’s wellness. Our primary focus is facilitating healing from adversity, supporting individual resilience and restoring the emotional stability of those most challenged by current political, social and economic conditions.
Our program team includes experienced Clinical Professionals, Family Therapists, certified Mind-Body Skills Facilitators, and Educators; and we partner with organizations serving the local community who are equally passionate about fostering wellness & resilience, and committed to serving those most in need.
We work to mitigate the stressors and challenges that occur as a result of contextual and structural barriers. These include, stressful living circumstances and relationships, and lack of social support and coping strategies. Moreover, we see these challenges as conditions that negatively influence mental health and contribute to overall health inequities within communities. We recognize the vital roles of mind-body medicine, emotional emancipation, restorative and empowerment practices, as essential tools in the personal and collective healing process, fostering overall health and well-being.
CFCR is uniquely positioned to provide wellness support for individuals, families and communities where they live, work, learn, worship and play. We are unwavering in our commitment to inclusivity, belonging, equality, and justice for all – regardless of age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity. As such, we employ a culturally responsive approach as a means of removing barriers and establishing belonging and safety – first understanding the expressed needs and possible solutions, in order to collaborate with community members in removing barriers to resources. This commitment is the basis of our mission – it permeates every policy, practice, and service, and is paramount in our relationships with clients, employees and partners.
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
— Martin Luther King Jr.
If one were to gaze out over the modern world, they may be shocked to find tiny proverbial fires erupting across the landscape with the potential to develop into a wide-sweeping blaze, burning through the connective tissue of every community. This view is an illustration of the destabilizing effect of systemic bias; Upheld by ideology that negates the humanity and dignity of historically marginalized groups and perpetuates a crabs-in-a-bucket mentality, where people lack the resources to thrive individually and support each other. It leaves community members disconnected, even in the very spaces that they originally built to connect and fortify themselves.
The Center for Family and Community Restoration maintains an unshakeable belief in humanity’s natural drive to seek community, to restore the natural environment and social structure within the spaces we live, and to integrate ecological health with social well-being – strengthening social bonds, preserving local culture and knowledge, and creating resilient, equitable outcomes that benefit ALL the people of the community. We believe in humanity’s propensity and ability to be natural fire fighters.
CFCR is committed to replenishing the ecosystem and creating fire resistant communities; To provide for the wellbeing of our fellow community members, particularly those most marginalized, and to exemplify our Pledge of Allegiance: to be “indivisible, with liberty and justice for all,” not just in words, but also in deed.
Join our effort to create community cradles – places that nurture health and safety, build individual and group resilience, and empower groups for community-led restoration and wellness.
Stand with us to fight fires with love as our armor!
